And POOF… just like that my TV is gone

Posted by: Cody Rasmussen

Last night was the end of my Comcast Cable HD digital TV and digital phone. I cancelled it. Pulled the plug! I’ll save close to $100 bucks a month. Sure, i’ll still get some local channels and I kept my cable internet, but… that’s it. I feel liberated and healthier in some odd way. Now, what can I do with $1200 extra a year? For starters… BIKE gear, another bike, gear of any kind! Trust me, JUMP SHIP and feel good. Over the next few months, I’ll be looking for more small ways to improve life and to save a buck or two. If you have ideas, please share them!

Jumbler Experiment

Posted by: Cody Rasmussen

I came across this Word Jumbler Experiment and thought it was very interesting.

Assuming you have no reading impairment understanding the jumbled block of text is supposed to be easy, in fact most people (apparently) don’t notice that it’s jumbled until half way through.

According to Matt Davis, who works at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit in Cambridge no such study (to his knowledge) has ever taken place. See his article which covers it all here.

Poster Design

Posted by: Cody Rasmussen

This is a poster design that I started, but never completed. It was presented to PBDH’s client, Sun Valley Summer Symphony, but was not selected. Nonetheless, it’s a simple and bold visual that strikes me as quite appropriate for a anniversary poster. Maybe the green is not quite right, but that’s another discussion. The use of the circles to suggest the opening of a horn takes a cliché musical instrument and simplifies to it’s essence. This circular icon is so simple that it makes my mouth water. Or, maybe it looks like a speaker? Either way, this visual will one day have a home. And, I can’t wait to make it happen.

Finally up and running

Posted by: Cody Rasmussen

My first post! I have been taking a HTML/CSS class for a few weeks now and finally got this WordPress blog up! There are a few kinks to work out, so I’ll be refining it as I go. “SCRAP” is short for scrapbook… i’ll post ideas, thoughts, projects, pics and just about anything I find interesting here.
